Evidence from the Alaska Permanent Fund suggests that an additional one thousand dollars in APF payments decreases the probability of an Alaskan child being obese by as much as 4.5%.

Extrapolating a similar payment to the US, the authors find that 66,000 annual cases of childhood obesity could be averted, on average, resulting in medical savings of roughly $310 million per year.
