In rural Kenya, an unconditional cash transfer equivalent to $1,076 had greater positive impacts on psychological (and economic) well-being than a 5-week psychotherapy program

The study compared the effects of cash transfers, a five-week psychotherapy program, and a combination of both among 5,756 individuals in rural Kenya. Psychotherapy alone had no measurable effect on psychological or economic outcomes, while cash transfer recipients were better off both economically and psychologically.
