Among recipients of the expanded Child Tax Credit, 50.9% of spending went towards food, with another 35.9% going towards essential bills. Over 5 months of the expanded Child Tax Credit, the number of children kept from poverty each month grew from 3 million in July 2021 to 3.8 million in November 2021. 6 months into the expanded child tax credit, child poverty was reduced by more than 29%.
