Americans are less polarized on economic democracy (codetermination, employee stock ownership programs, and management elections) than unionization. Americans prefer to work at democratic firms because they intrinsically value having more power at work. Americans would prefer to work at democratically organized firms. Americans value economic democracy equivalently to a wage increase of $20/hr. There is little evidence of partisan polarization over economic democracy. Codetermination raised the probability of employees preferring to work at a firm by 7%; ESOP's by 10%.
